[General Information]

[name] Dovefall

[name origin] She was named Dove after her soft, feathery white and pinkish-ginger coat

[age] 20 months

[sex] Female

[breed] Moggy with clear influence of American Ringtail

[rank] Medicine Cat

[apprentice] None

[clan] ThunderClan

[theme songs] When She Loved Me – Sarah McLachlan

[Physical Traits]

[general] Dovefall is a lithe white and pinkish-ginger she-cat with a distinctive curly tail.

[pelt] Her fur is very soft and feathery, although she does have tendency to tug out bits of fur on her neck and hindquarters from stress and anxiety.

[eyes] Her eyes are a pale, desaturated yellow.

[scent] Of course, like most medicine cats, Dove smells strongly of the sweet herbs she spends most of her days around.

[build] Dovefall is not very muscular at all; it shouldn’t really be a surprise, considering she is a medicine cat. She’s very useless when it comes to fighting. So useless like she will actually start sobbing please do not fight.

[scars] After a brutal attack when she was just 11 moons old, Dovefall is covered in long, bare scars, and her ears are tattered. They’re mostly on her chest and abdomen, along with a few across her arms and on her right hind leg. When asked how she got the scars she will usually give you a different response every time; most of her close friends don’t really know what happened to her, aside from Puddlestar.

[voice actor] TBA

[Sexuality Information]

[mate] Not looking.

[orientation] Homosexual but also a bit bi-curious

[preferences] Although she is not activity looking for a mate, Dovefall really does not have any preferences. She loves she-cats of all sizes and shapes and personality, although she does have a tendency to become attracted to she-cats she knows she can’t have, and very strong, demanding she-cats as well. Another problem is that she tends to have 30-second-crushes on every she-cat she sees. She knows she is not permitted to have a mate as a medicine cat, but there’s something about knowing that that just makes her even more so interested.

[history] Dovefall has been in love in the past, and also tends to have small crushes quite often, although they never lead to anything big.

[activity] Virgin.

[History]

Dovefall’s mother always was a shady one. Constantly sneaking off during patrols, coming back with strange scents on her pelt; she was always a loner within the Clan, and never really bonded or was close to any cats. So, it was awfully suspicious when her belly because round with kits. Rumors began to spread about who the father could possibly be, but she never told. They had no real business to know, anyway. When Honeypelt was pregnant she fell into an odd depression, which no cat really understood why. She knew who the father was; a loner who she’d first met when she was just an apprentice. He was her best friend, although through the moons they had begun to grow apart. So, the tortioshell she-cat formed a plan; if she would get pregnant, then surely they’d never leave each other’s side? They’d have a family, and they could always be together. Perhaps he could join her Clan, or she could leave them to be with him, it didn’t matter. They would have a family together, so they’d surely have to be together forever. One night, Honeypelt announced to him that she was pregnant. The tom was completely shocked, and infuriated when she continued on to tell him that they would have a family together. He enjoyed being along far too much; it was all he ever knew growing up. Sometimes even his late night visits with the Clan cat were too much for him. This ended up being their final night together, since the loner did love Honeypelt, but was not ready to take on such a big responsibility as kits. And thus, Honeypelt never forgave herself for making such a stupid decision, spending most of her pregnancy in the nursery refusing to eat and not talking much at all.

This, of course, was not good for her health. The stress she was putting herself through was affecting her physical state, and ended up birthing her kits when she was not at her strongest. The Clan was terrified for her and the soon to be born kits. Giving birth in the middle of leafbare was a hard thing to do, healthy or not. Thankfully the snow had decided not to fall on the day she came into labor, and despite the chilly conditions, with the help of the well-experienced medicine cat, three beautiful she-kits were born. Although their health was not in the greatest of states, at least now Fallowtoes, the medicine cat, would be able to observe them and keep a closer eye on their health. However, leafbare is a hard season for even the healthiest of cats, and the three kits ended up with a deadly chest congestion that cause two to lose their lives. Honeypelt was torn. Despite not truly feeling connected to the kits, she felt as if she had failed yet again at trying to build a family for herself. Dovekit was the last of her kits, and every night she held her close to keep her warm, hoping that StarClan would show mercy on her for her mistakes. After only a few more months of the harsh cold, Dovekit survived and Honeypelt as last felt like she had succeeded with something. After spending her first 3 moons inside the nursery, Dovekit was able to venture out and meet the Clan herself. However, this was not as joyous of an occasion as one would think; because of her tail. The Clan cats had never seen a tail so curled over one’s back like that; was it broken? Was she some sort of prophet from StarClan? Of course her mother couldn’t come outright and tell the truth about their father being a loner, and had to let the rumors last for now. Dovekit developed anxiety, constantly worried what other cats were thinking about her every time she left the den. She tried to be a normal kit, and thankfully the other kits in the nursery at the time were as friendly as could be. And despite her being weaker than the rest, she enjoyed roughhousing and playing hide-and-go-seek just like any other kit. She simply had a rougher start than most. At this point, Honeypelt began separating herself from her daughter, focusing more on rebuilding her strength and helping her Clan. Dovekit admired her mother’s dedication and loyalty to ThunderClan, and vowed to be as strong and useful as her one day.

On her sixth moon Dovepaw was made an apprentice to be mentored under Bramblefrost. Bramblefrost was a stunning and talented warrior, and their leader was sure someone as skilled as her would be able to pass on her knowledge to even the weakest of apprentices. Dovepaw was truly excited when she had heard that such a beautiful and masterful warrior was going to be her mentor; although, it was mostly because of the beautiful part. Honestly, how could any apprentice be dismayed to be able to spend every day with her? It was a bit distracting at times, but it only made Dovepaw want to impress her even more. The two formed a bond at first, closer than most apprentices usually are with their mentors. They seemed to be more like close friends, maybe even lovers, rather than mentor and apprentice. Around her 10th moon, after all of her training, Dovepaw was simply not progressing. She’d often get sick during fighting practices and exercises, and even fainted once after a long run through the territory. Bramblefrost began to doubt she would even be able to make her into a warrior. Even cats apprenticed later than her own were excelling beyond Dovepaw’s capabilities. Discouraged, the warrior began distancing herself from her apprentice, knowing that any training was useless. Dovepaw, however, was hurt. She thought her mentor cared about her; how could she simply leave her alone all of the time like this? Avoiding her… It felt terrible. Like her heart had broken. She wasn’t useless or untrainable! She could be just as skilled as any other apprentice! At least, that’s what the little white she-cat tried to tell herself. In reality, she knew it was all hopeless. Her body just wasn’t as strong as other cats. But what else was she to do? Being a warrior was what Clan cats did! To fight for one’s Clan and help it stay strong… How could she ever do any of that? One day, the apprentice snuck out of camp and sat by herself in the forest. Tears fell as she thought about how useless to her beloved Clan she was, and how her love seemed to have given up on her. After all the time they spent together, Bramblefrost just didn’t care for her. And that was truly heartbreaking for the little she-cat. The daylight faded and the apprentice ended up staying out of camp the entire day, feeling as if it was pointless to go back to camp anymore if she was just going to be a burden on the one she loved. However, she wasn’t alone for long. Bramblefrost had gone out searching for her, and once she finally stumbled upon the crying little she-cat she crumbled down, apologizing for her actions and holding her close. For that moment, Dovepaw felt like maybe everything was going to be alright. Even if training was hard, she would still work vigorously and fight for her warriorship. She would be able to do this, surely. After a few moments of sitting alone together, Dovepaw suddenly heard a loud rustling in the bushes, and before she could even think, three dark shapes leaped from the shrubs, and in just a few moments everything Dovepaw knew was about to change.

The young she-cat was found the next morning by Puddlepaw, one of her denmates, with blood staining the green grass and foliage around her, and Bramblefrost’s lifeless body lying on the ground a few tail-lengths away from Dove herself. The young she-cat was covered in still-bleeding wounds, and was barely alive by the time rescue came, although nothing would be able to make her forget that night. She was terrified; terrified of it happening again and terrified of anyone finding out what had happened. She refused to tell the truth to anyone once she was in recovery. The memories of what happened plagued her, and she refused to sleep without some cat beside her. Fallowtoes, the elderly medicine cat, was kind to her, however. He understood how traumatizing things could be, and in her time in the den he began absent-mindedly teaching her the herbs and remedies he knew. They interested her, but she felt like every cat had a spark of interest in the mysterious plants the medicine cats used to heal. After a moon, Dovepaw was still stuck in the medicine cat den, although she felt like it was where she belonged. After all, she wasn’t a very good warrior apprentice anyhow. After a rather uneventful day, the elderly medicine cat sat down beside her and bean telling her about his relations with StarClan. He explained how prophecies worked, and what a joy it was to be able to be so close to his ancestor. Dovepaw listened through her tattered ears, wondering just what he was getting at, but keeping quiet nonetheless. After a few moments, Fallowtoes finally got to what he had been trying to tell her. StarClan had sent him an omen only a moon and a half ago ago, before what had happened to Dovepaw, and he regretted not realizing what it had meant sooner. From the start, she had been destined to be a medicine cat. The news shook Dovepaw, leaving her speechless for a short moment. All of this time, StarClan knew? They knew she wasn’t meant to be training as a warrior? How could they let this happen to her? The young she-cat turned away from the medicine cat, before giving a simple nod in reply. She’d never be able to be as strong and brave as her mother or Bramblefrost, but at least now she was where she belonged from the very start. Apprenticeship under Fallowtoes was interesting to say the least. The medicine cat was a former elder who had to step back into his place as medicine cat after his former apprentice had died, and was forgetful, and tended to let his mind wander at times. They would be in the middle of learning what foxglove seeds do and he would begin telling a story about the time he saw a squirrel the size of an apprentice, and Dovepaw would be left heavily confused. Still, she tried to follow along as best as she could, although there were certain things she simply could not handle. One of those things being kitting. Around her sixth moon of apprenticeship, one of the queens came into labor and Fallowtoes decided it would act as a bit of an assessment for Dovepaw. The young she-cat’s wails through the pain of birth caused the medicine cat apprentice to break down, and Fallowtoes was forced to step in. The she-cat, undernourished and weak as she was, did not survive. Her mate became furious with the two medicine cats, leaving Dovepaw with an even further fear of failing at such a thing again. She didn’t receive her full name until she was roughly 19 moons old. Fallowtoes had fallen terribly ill, but insisted on taking her to moonstone for a proper ceremony. At the sacred place, she was given the name Dovefall, in light of how she seemed to have fallen in love with her duties as medicine cat. Unfortunately, it was a few dawns after receiving her name that Fallowtoes passed away in his slumber, leaving her alone as the solo medicine cat of ThunderClan.

[Roleplay Example]

After a split moment of hesitation, Havenpaw took a small breath and followed behind her short-tailed friend into the tunnel. It wouldn’t be much use to turn tail and run back to camp now. Lightpaw would just find her there and be even more upset with her for trying to avoid the question. It was probably best for her to just try to keep a calm act and keep her maw closed when or if her friend begins asking questions. Perhaps she could try and distract her from it… She wasn’t entirely sure she would be able to keep it cool, however. Even now, just heading to the place, she felt her pelt itch with anxiety and her stomach wasn’t feeling too great. This wasn’t going to be a fun time. Tufted ears perked as soon as her head poked through the other end of the tunnel, the hushed sound of waves crashing in the distance filled the air. With wide green eyes, the younger apprentice gazed about the area, feeling a slight sense in awe at how relaxing yet ominous the environment felt. From the cool, damp air to the soft grass beneath her feet and the cool shade of the canopy, it certainly was a place to treasure. Havenpaw had her head tilted back to view up at the treetops when the golden tabby glanced over at her to inform the younger apprentice they had a bit of a way to walk just yet. Taking another breath, Havenpaw gave a small nod in response and turned to follow shortly behind her friend. Although, the decision to stick so close to Lightpaw wasn’t such a great one, she thought. The sooner they got there, the sooner the interrogation would start. Up until this moment, the marbled tabby still had a very real idea that she would somehow be able to avoid answering. But now it suddenly hit her like a wave that her persistent friend wasn’t going to give up so easily. The dusty she-cat dragged her gaze down to her paws as she walked after this realization, and noticed that her paws were trembling ever so slightly.
